Mapping the Migratory Flight of the Kuaka

LI: To use Google My Maps to show the migratory flight path of the Kuaka.

The Kuaka travels from their  breeding grounds so they can feed on rich mud flats, they migrate to harbours sandy coasts as their habitat, they migrate to the Alaskan tundra to breed as that is their breed grounds.

They refuel at the yellow sea to preserve energy to make the flight.

Fun fact: the kuaka bird is known for their long distanced migration is over 11,000 kilometers.

Dot to Dot Connections: The Kuaka

LI: To draw the lines between the words to show how the connections you
have made.

Our task was to make a dot to dot connection between information about the Kuaka I chose a variety of different words to make connections to and provided information between them.

something our group found interesting was the Kuaka bird preserves energy by standing on one leg. This is because this is a facisinating fact and it cool to know.

Photo Story

LI: To understand the concept of visual storytelling

Our task today was to make a visual story in time sequence, we used photos of our walk to tell people stories of how our walk down the Tamaki awa went. We pictured what Samuel marsden might have seen.

I enjoyed this task because we got to think of what Samuel Marsden might have seen and it was like a walk down through  history. This activity was also fun because it we got to play at the park.
